The Word: It’s Got the Power!

As I was sipping my cappuccino and discussing the Bible while sitting on a table outside of Avalon Bakery this morning with a very dear friend of mine, I couldn’t help but notice the power in the proclaimed Word of God. Many of us know that:

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2 Tim 3:16 (ESV)

Here’s what got me thinking this: my friend and I had 3 people approach us simply because we were reading the Bible. One of them was a nice woman who heard me as I was reading a passage from Ezekiel aloud. She came and stood by our table, so, I greeted her. She then said, “I was just listening…” I continued reading aloud from the book of Ezekiel, and I’m thinking “Ezekiel, for crying out loud! Who comes to listen to Ezekiel?!?!” It really just showed me how powerful God’s word is to ALL who hear it.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Heb 4:12 (ESV)

The word of God is alive! Let’s live it, be active with it, and proclaim it (or, just read it in public… maybe a  few random passerbyers will see it and get curious)!
